The Folly Sporting 80

Shooting

at The Folly

From humble beginnings as a small private shoot and through a searing passion for the industry, The Folly has been cultivated by the Herrick family to provide sportsmen and women with challenging sport, coupled with first class hospitality and culminating in an day to remember.

The Folly is situated near the Leicestershire/Warwickshire border close the village of Kirkby Mallory. Consisting of 1250 acres of rolling arable and grass land with a number of small woods allows the team at The Folly to display birds that will challenge guns of all abilities.

The ability to present birds in a broad range of styles is one of many things that sets The Folly apart from other shoots. Whether you enjoy flaring partridges from drives such as ‘Willies’ or soaring pheasants from ‘Posh and Becks’ or ‘The Circuit’, The Folly really has something for you.

What you can expect

A typical day at The Folly starts with guns being welcomed into our shoot room, where they can meet with friends old and new and discuss the day ahead over tea, coffee and biscuits. Guns will then be gathered for a safety briefing prior to being asked to ‘boot up’ and load onto our guns trailer, which has been custom built in house to provide both comfort and space, whilst also allowing the perfect environment for guns to socialise between drives.

Elevenses are usually taken in the field after the first drive. Guns will be served our famous pheasant and chorizo rolls, washed down with a refreshing glass of prosecco mixed with the gin of the day. The team at The Folly are renowned for their gin infusions and always offer ‘homemade’ gins to their visiting guns. Whether it is sloe, damson or plum, all the fruit is harvested on the shoot meaning every bottle is unique to The Folly and can’t be found elsewhere.

Following two further drives, guns will return to the shoot yard for lunch and the chance to restock their cartridge bags. Lunch at The Folly is always something to look forward to. With hot sausages, homemade cakes and refreshments on the menu, guns are sure to be left with a full stomach and a smile on their face. Make sure you are on the lookout for Joanne’s famous lemon drizzle cake!

After lunch guns will take a further two drives before returning to the shoot yard once more and retiring to the shoot room, where they will have the chance to relax by the log burning fire with a glass of wine or an ice cold beer. This is followed by a delicious ‘home-cooked’ two course evening meal, where game is always on the menu. Guns will be joined for dinner by hosts Eddie and Kate and gamekeeper James, offering everyone the perfect opportunity to reflect on the highlights of the day.
